New Relase LLE ARALL / ANOTHER PLACE from Allan Yn Y Fan & Delyth Jenkins
Steam Pie Records is delighted to announce the release on 1st March (St.David’s Day - naturally!) of a new 5 track CD (SPCD 1014S) showcasing the musical partnership between Allan Yn Y Fan and leading Welsh Celtic harpist Delyth Jenkins.
“Lle Arall / Another Place” takes its title from a brand new, especially haunting Kate Strudwick composition - which literally does transport the listener to “another place”. The five track EP also includes two other collaborations with Delyth - the plaintive “Mil Harddach Wyt” - exquisitely sung by Meriel Field; and a rollicking set of traditional Welsh tunes put together to trip up the unassuming step dancer :- “Mwmpwy Portheinon/Breuddwyd Y Wrach/Pibddawns Owen Huw”. The band has also recorded a new version of their regular concert opener “Hen Ferchetan/Coleg y Brifysgol Abertawe” - with added percussion for the new decade! The EP is completed with a solo harp outing on the traditional tunes “Llwytgoed/Owen’s Jig/Bedd Y Morwr” which is taken from Delyth’s most recent Steam Pie album “Aros”.
As is now usual, Allan Yn Y Fan and Delyth Jenkins recorded these tracks at the Abergavenny studio of leading Welsh guitarist and producer - Dylan Fowler. Despite the best attempts by the recent wintery weather to derail the project, everything was completed before the first week of January was over!
“Lle Arall / Another Place” is being issued to tie in with the band’s Arts Council Wales backed premiere tour of Wales and England. Ten dates commencing in Theatr Hafren, Newtown on the 12th March and coming to a close at Galeri Caernarfon on Saturday 17th April. Full tour details can be found here.
“Lle Arall / Another Place” will be distributed to all good music shops and on-line retailers by Proper Distribution and will also be available from the band’s website (Click here).
