New Year, New Line-up!

Allan Yn Y Fan is delighted to announce that MERIEL FIELD has joined "Wales’ top twmpath band" adding her fiery fiddle playing and beautiful singing to the band. For the first time, Allan Yn Y Fan now feature songs alongside their proven mix of their own compositions, traditional Welsh music and choice selections from the Celtic nations.

Meriel Field, based in Abertridwr, was born in Mold, North Wales, studied music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and teaches singing in a variety of settings.

Together with Meriel, Allan Yn Y Fan are looking forward to a year packed with great gigs and festival appearances. The first chance to see the new band in action will be on St. David’s Day at the Pontardawe Arts Centre. Allan Yn Y Fan’s first festival appearance of 2008 is at Porthcawl’s CWLWM CELTAIDD (7th March). Allan Yn Y Fan returns to the Assembly Rooms Ludlow on Monday 17th March, celebrating that other famous Welshman, St. Patrick!

Future festival appearances will include Priddy in Somerset, a special "Home Nations" concert with Battlefield Band, Cara Dillon and Oysterband at the Trowbridge Village Pump Festival (24th July) and headlining the acoustic stage for their home ground event, the Caerffili Big Cheese Festival on 27th July. In August Allan Yn Y Fan will be pleased to return to the fabulous Festival Interceltique at Lorient – in the year of Wales.

The band hope to find time in their busy schedule this year to commence work on their third album for Steam Pie to follow-up the success of the 2006 release "Belonging".
