Morgan Rhatlar / Lacken House
We love Morgan. Whoever he is, it’s a rattling good tune and we thank Robin Huw Bowen for bringing him to our attention via John Parry Ddall of Rhiwabon. So is the second one, but this one was written by our own Chris, and we know who he is and where he got his inspiration. Lacken House is a splendid Dutch-run guest-house in foggy Rahara in Ireland. We always got so lost trying to find our way back from gigs that once even considered kidnapping their dog as a guide home (sorry Gurtina!).

Girl on a Rock
For Jo Harding. When the band played at Jo’s 80th birthday party, Kate was inspired by a photo of her as a young girl, standing on a rock in the Lake District. Can’t you just tell that she was going to grow up to be an extraordinary woman.

Gyrru'r Byd Ymlaen / Rural Assets
The usual translation of the title for the first piece is “Kick the World Before Me”. We’ve no idea what this is supposed to convey but we like this Welsh slip jig for its mediaeval feel. “Rural Assets” is Kate’s tribute to a surreal Harvest Festival in Dysart, deep in rural Roscommon. The tune pays homage to the “Novelty Hunt” with its assorted Thelwell ponies, pet dogs, fog and general chaos....not to mention the fine rears of the best-looking farmers in Ireland.

Postman / Upto your Neck in Newts
Sometimes you come across a tune with a title that is so irresistible that you just have to play it. On the other hand, some people compose irresistible tunes but just can’t be bothered to think of a decent title. Guess which is which? Clue: one of the titles emerged from an inspirational volume entitled “St. Patrick was a Cajun”, the other came second class and arrived rather late.
